Review FAIRYHOUSE 15TH DEC

Snowy Morning put the disappointment of his Hennessy fall behind him when getting back to winning ways over hurdles at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

Willie Mullins' charge, an early casualty when favourite for the Newbury highlight, had few problems accounting for his rivals in the Irish Racing Yearbook Hurdle.

Davy Condon soon had his mount in the lead and he found another gear after the last to pull away for a convincing four-and-a-half length success over Chicago Vic.

'I'm happy with that and if I could find another similar type of race for him I would be delighted,' said Mullins.

'He could run in the (Listed Wilf Dooly) chase at Tramore on New Year's Day. He's in the Lexus but won't run there.'

The most impressive performance of the day came from Barker in the two mile handicap hurdle.

Martin Mooney's mount arrived swinging in the straight and went on at the last for an effortless nine-length success.

'He has an entry for the Pierse Hurdle and that's the plan,' said trainer James Barrett afterwards.

'I had thought about going chasing with him but when he won so well at Clonmel I put him in the Pierse. He needs to go up 14lb to get in off bottom weight.'

Noel Meade and Paul Carberry teamed up in the opener when Right Or Wrong got off the mark over hurdles.

The gelding battled well down the straight when challenged by Dani California in the juvenile maiden and came home a length-and-a-half victor over Beau Michael, who ran on again late after cutting out the running.

'A combination of two factors brought about the improvement. One was the ground, the softer the better for him, and I also put a tongue tie on him,' revealed Meade.

Siegemaster future lies over fences but Dessie Hughes reported that he may try to win another hurdle with the handsome gelding following his gutsy front-running performance in the Curragha Maiden Hurdle.

The Stamullen Beginners Chase was robbed off much of its interest when hot favourite Kazal exited at the second.

The Halfway Bar was produced with a well-timed run to lead before the last, under Andrew McNamara, and record a cosy three-and-a-half length victory.

Dante Hall also did it in good style when taking the following 2m5f beginners chase for Mark Walsh and Tommy Stack.

The concluding bumper looked a decent contest and Rock Steady finished strongly under David Roche to score by three lengths from Themoonandsixpence.

'He's for sale if anyone is interested,' revealed winning trainer Henry de Bromhead. 'Davy gave him a lovely ride, dropped him in and got him settled. He has loads of gears.'
