Review FAIRYHOUSE 22ND OCT

Seb Sanders partnered his first winner at Fairyhouse when Kiswahili justified odds of 1/2 with a gutsy performance in the 12f conditions race.

Sir Mark Prescott has enjoyed a good strike rate with his Irish raiders this year, and the hot favourite galloped on strongly in the straight to beat Hippodrome by 1 1/2L.

'She was very late coming to hand, and we have been running out of options,' said Prescott's representative Alyson West.

Tiger Cry, runner-up last time in the Galway Hurdle, finally scored over fences when putting in a fine round of jumping in the 2m1f beginners chase.

David Casey's mount was left in front after the ill-fated Man About Town was pulled up quickly at halfway, and he was unchallenged to beat Healy's Pub by eight lengths.

'He'd everything in his favour today as he's loads of experience over fences and had his ground. He doesn't handle heavy ground, and when it gets that way we'll put him away until the spring.'

'I've no specific plans and he could go for one of the good novices or a handicap,' said trainer Arthur Moore.

The Drinmore Chase back here in early December could be on the agenda for Kerryhead Windfarm after the Michael Hourigan-trained gelding took the 2m6f beginners chase.

The seven-year-old landed in front after three out for Andrew McNamara and stayed on strongly to beat On The Net by seven lengths.

'He's a good horse and seems to have got his act together better over fences than hurdles. He's a real stamp of a chaser, and can go over any distance from two and a half miles up,' said Hourigan.

Fox The Hound opening his account at the fourth attempt when finishing with a flourish under Robbie Burke to land the seven furlongs juvenile auction maiden.

Nevada Range looked sure to justify favouritism when quickening clear inside the final furlong but Thomond O'Mara's charge finished with great effect to eventually score by 1/2L.

'He's not a bad sort of horse and we blamed the ground at Gowran the last day as he seems to be better with a bit of cut,' said O'Mara.

He added, 'We may try to find a nursery before the end of the season or he could also go for a winners auction race at Galway next weekend.'

Jim Gorman enjoyed a welcome change of fortune when Aldocos benefited from a strong drive by Pat Shanahan to get up close home in division one of the seven furlongs handicap.

'He's been unlucky a few times and needs a bit further as he can't go the pace early but stays on well. He's in again at Navan on Wednesday if he gets a run,' said Gorman.

Fellow Curragh trainer Michael Grassick has struck form in recent weeks, and Little Nymph followed up her Thurles win in div 2 of the seven furlongs handicap.

Niall McCullagh sent the filly to the front over a furlong out, and she kept on strongly to beat Ask Carol by two and a half lengths.

'She may go for a 50-80 handicap at Leopardstown on the final day of the season and will stay in training next year,' said Grassick after his 18th winner of the season.

Hannda gained a valuable winning bracket in the hands of Jamie Moriarty when getting the better of an exciting final furlong duel with Musardiere in the 10f fillies maiden.

'She battled on well and has improved a bit from her debut at Cork. She's a nice filly that's had problems and that was her Oaks,' said trainer John Oxx.

Wara Mountain (Roger Quinlan) led early in the straight in the bumper, and was driven right out to beat Drummer First by three lengths.
