Review FAIRYHOUSE 30TH SEP

The drop in class did the trick for Mountain as he got off the mark for the season in the Diamond Stakes at Fairyhouse.

The Ballydoyle colt, who has been plying his trade at the top level recently, was well supported in the listed event (5/4 to 9/10f).

The Montjeu colt was keen in the early stages but responded well when sent to the front a furlong out by Kieren Fallon, staying on for a length-and-a-quarter victory over Cool Touch.

'He's due that,' said Fallon. 'He has run some great races this season and ran well in the Derby. He needed the confidence booster.'

Evening Time looked a top class prospect when annihilating her field in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

The Kevin Prendergast-trained filly sprinted clear a furlong-and-a-half out, under Declan McDonogh, to record a nine-length margin over Crown Colony.

'We were waiting for an ease and she also had a few little problems in the summer. She's not that big but her engine is in the right place,' said Prendergast.

'I don't know how good the opposition is but she could only win the way she did. That will probably be her for the season now.'

It was a memorable day for trainer Edward Harty, who saddled his first double courtesy of Tovario and Itsonlywoody.

Tovario finished well in the testing conditions to claim a competitive Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery.

Colm O'Donoghue produced the filly with a perfectly timed run to lead just inside the final furlong and secure a length victory over Out Of The Red.

'I'll see what the handicapper does. She might run in the Birdcatcher for the prize money,' said Harty.

Itsonlywoody proved a willing partner for Sean Levey when getting home by half-a-length from Raise Again in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.

'Once he gets that ground he's a different horse. He's very versatile, seven furlongs, six or five, it all comes alike to him,' said Harty

Francis Crowley admitted to being 'a little bit surprised' after Kintyre Blues wore down Aliceinwonderland close home to land the Clonee Maiden.

Sensible Lady was prominent throughout in the Auction Maiden before asserting in the final furlong for a three-length victory over Headborough Lass.

There was a tight finish to the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden with Cousin Lizzie just edging out Dolce Dovo while Fran Berry excelled with a fine front-running ride on Kerdem in the concluding Ballybin Handicap.
