Review FAIRYHOUSE 16-JAN-2000

Tony Martin saddled a 15/1 plus double at the revamped Co Meath venue, highlighted by the feature race success of Fandango De Chassy under Adrian Maguire.

Maguire's mount and Florida Light fought out a titanic battle up the straight in the 3m1f handicap chase, with the 7yo asserting on the run-in to score by 3 1/2L.

The local handler afterwards nominated the 4m National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival as the main target this term.

Martin was also on the mark half-an-hour earlier with Banreme in the 2 1/2m handicap hurdle.

Joey Elliott gave the 7yo mare a confident ride, heading Belle Starr at the last for a 1L victory.

Grand National hero Bobbyjo made his reappearance in this event, and was prominent until dropping away on the home turn.

Tommy Carberry was happy with the gelding saying: 'He needs better ground, and may have another run over hurdles as part of his National preparation.'

Sheltering justified prohibitive odds in the hunter chase, staying on well in the straight to hold off Spot Thedifference by 4L.

Lawz (5/4-11/10f) was another popular winner for the large crowd in the 2m maiden hurdle, although Pat Hughes believes he will be suited by better ground.

Copper Supreme headed the front-running Sallie's Girl after three out to take the Tattersalls Mares Novice Chase, and may go for the Final of the series at Uttoxeter in March.
