Review FAIRYHOUSE 26TH AUG

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen continued their winning streak when recording a 14/1 double at a sun-drenched Fairyhouse.

Bail Out The King made light of a four-month absence to initiate the brace in the Ratoath maiden. The three year-old had the misfortune to be stood on by another runner on his last outing at Sligo, and needed considerable time to recover.

However, he showed no signs of rustiness as Smullen kept him up to his work to defy favourite Oriental Ben by a rapidly-diminishing head.

The champion jockey then produced a tour de force when driving Naahil up to head Northern Rock close home in the Duleek Race. Bought by owner Robert Sinclair as a prospective hurdler, the Elmaamul gelding may have another outing or two on the level before switching codes.

'He has been schooled and jumps well,' said Weld, adding that the sponsors' Dress To Thrill is likely to be his representative in next weekend's Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Maynooth handler Pat Martin was another to hit the target twice during the afternoon, sending out Detatch for a comfortable success in the Ashbourne Handicap, before Breffni Flyer took the Dunboyne QR Handicap in great style under Caroline Hutchinson.

Nineteen year-old Victoria Hughes partnered her second winner when guiding Here Goes to victory in the Fairyhouse Nursery, the partnership making most of the running to hold Johnny Murtagh's mount Synchronize by a head.

Murtagh had earlier enjoyed better fortune in the EBF Maiden, when Minatonic made an impressive winning debut.
