Review FAIRYHOUSE 25th Mar

First-time blinkers worked the oracle for Schindlers Hunt (11-2) as he gained just reward for his consistency with a deserved success in the valuable Tattersalls Ireland Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase.

All but two of Dessie Hughes' grand campaigner's last 11 starts have come at the highest level and he arrived on the back of a fourth in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Having his sights lowered here, he still had some work to do when Gemini Lucy kicked clear approaching the straight, but he responded well to Barry Geraghty's urgings and had the race sewn up at the last. He stayed on to score by four lengths, with Mansony a never-nearer third.

Jered continued his rise up the ranks with a classy performance in the Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa Novice Hurdle.

Sent off a 4-5 chance, favourite backers never had a moment's worry as even though Paul Carberry was content to look on from the rear of the field, he took closer order turning in and a burst of speed between the last two sealed it.

Made In Taipan, who jumped left throughout, ran on well but finished two lengths adrift of the eased-down winner.

Psycho disappointed again when he could not land a blow in the Ladbrokes.com Handicap Hurdle. The County Hurdle runner-up came under pressure some way from home and never looked like threatening the principals.

At the business end, Major Sensation (14-1) proved two and a half lengths too strong for Save The Bacon, giving owner JP McManus a double after the earlier success of Jered.

A busy campaign has had no adverse effect on Paco Jack (8-1), judging by the way he stuck to his task to grab the spoils in the Grade Three Weatherbys Ireland GSB Hurdle, with Miss Fancy Pants a neck back in second.
