Review GALWAY 6TH AUG

Bolodenka was the star on the final day of the 2006 Galway festival when taking the Michael McNamara & Co Builders Dublin & Galway Handicap in great style.

Richard Fahey's raider followed up his win at the track on Thursday when coming with a storming run inside the final furlong to claim the 100,000 contest.

Declan McDonogh was also rounding off a great week at Ballybrit as he partnered the gelding to a convincing two-length success over Dynamo Dancer.

'He's a half decent horse and has really come to himself recently. This has been the plan since last September,' said stable representative Pat Brilly afterwards.

Dermot Weld finished the week with seven winners thanks to Bling It On's success in the Mercer Hotel EBF Fillies Maiden.

Pat Smullen produced the filly on the outside to lead at the furlong pole and she stayed on strongly to score by three-and-a-half lengths from Zulu Queen.

Smullen and McDonogh both finished the week on five winners with McDonogh claiming the leading Flat jockey title based on prize money.

Kuwait Tower flashed home in the closing stages to get up late on in the Galway Fairgreen Hotel Handicap.

Incline looked to have poached a handy lead at the top of the straight but was collared in the shadow of the post by Joseph Quinn's charge, who had got into the race as first reserve.

On The Other Hand was produced with a well timed run by Denis Hogan to claim the Cork Airport Hotel Handicap Hurdle.

Charlie Swan's charge jumped to the lead at the last and pulled away to score by four lengths from Milord Jones.

Castle Hope showed great determination to claw back Adastra Lad after the last in the Tara Towers Hotel Handicap Hurdle.

The Stephen Ryan-trained mare responded well for Kevin Coleman's urgings to get up close home and pip the 2/1f.

Anno Jubilo looked sure to collect turning into the straight in the Corrib Village Beginners Chase but faded to third in the closing stages as Lugante flew home to land the spoils.

A hot looking bumper produced a smart winner in Cork All Star. Mark Fahey kicked on before the bend on the Jessica Harrington-trained gelding and he stayed on strongly to hold the late run of Silver Adonis.
