Review GOWRAN PARK 21ST AUG

Luas Line is set for another trip Stateside following a convincing success in the Listed Denny Cordell Lavarack Memorial EBF Stakes at Gowran Park.

The rain-softened ground was a concern for David Wachman's filly (5/4 to 7/4f) but she handled it well, swooping through to lead early in the straight and staying on strongly to beat Sanserif by a length-and-a-half.

The daughter of Danehill ran well at Hollywood Park last month, when fourth in the American Oaks, and the plan is to cross the Atlantic again for the Garden City Breeders' Cup at Belmont Park on September 10th.

Wachman and Wayne Lordan were denied a quick double when newcomer California Dreamer was edged out by a neck by fellow debutant Icy Ridge in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

Joe Crowley's Orpen colt was in rear throughout, under Colm O'Donoghue, before sprinting home in the straight to lead inside the final furlong.

Shane Gorey replaced the injured Fran Berry on Common Venture in the Rooptop Restaurant At Gowran Park Handicap and kept Tom McCourt's gelding going well in the closing stages to get the better of Karramalu by a length.

Loblolly Bay followed up her maiden victory at Galway when repelling the late challenge of Devious Diva by a neck in the Bulmers EBF Fillies Handicap.

The Japanese-bred Davorin also stayed on strongly to land the Bulmers Handicap by a length from Qudraat, for Johnny Murtagh and trainer Robbie Burns.

Jalmira wore down Undercover Glamour in the closing stages for a head victory in the opening Fillies Maiden while In The Folly opened his account at the second time of asking when taking the Kilkenny Racing Festival Maiden.

Meanwhile at Cork Dessie Hughes' Khairambar had the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Novice Chase presented on a plate when 1/1f Monjoyau crashed out.

Monjoyau set a searching pace and looked in control turning into the straight but made a hash of the third last. Khairambar was left to come home a distance clear of the only other finisher Ghlaisebhui.

There were doubles on the card for Barry Geraghty, Robbie Power and trainer Jessica Harrington.

Power and Harrington teamed up when Willie The Shoe ran out a convincing six-length winner of the Alternative Cater Hire Handicap Hurdle.

Ken Condon's Domnul Admiral completed the brace for Power when making a stylish chasing debut in the Newmarket Motors Beginners Chase.

Geraghty had got off the mark when Oh So Lively followed up last year's success in the David O'Meara & Sons Handicap Chase and Bunmahon completed the doubles for Geraghty and Harrington when taking the Fleming Construction Maiden Hurdle.
