Review KILBEGGAN 12TH AUG

Paddy Flood was the star of the show at Kilbeggan on Saturday night as he landed a fabulous four-timer.

Flood hit the ground running, claiming the first two races courtesy of Former Senator and Eloquent Dream.

Former Senator made all for a gutsy win in the opening Kevin Cooke Maiden Hurdle, seeing off the challenge of hot-pot Rocket Boy by three lengths.

Sloppy jumps at the final two flights sealed 4/11f Rocket Boy's fate as he failed to get on terms with the front-running Former Senator.

It was a particularly game effort as John Geoghegan's charge was subsequently found to have burst a blood vessel.

There was a tragic ending to the Ulster Bank Mares Maiden Hurdle as 8/15f Forthefarmer was pulled up close home after breaking a leg.

She was well-held in third at the time as Tiermana Lady got the better of Eloquent Dream by three lengths.

Cunningham's Folly interrupted the Flood bandwagon when completing a hat-trick at the course by landing the E. Hamill & Sons Kia Handicap Hurdle.

The Martin Brassil-trained gelding was well backed throughout the day (7/4 to 1/1f) and duly obliged.

Ruby Walsh sent him to the front before the last and he quickened smartly on the run-in to score by four lengths from Imogens Fancy.

Flood was soon back in the winners enclosure as Premount got up close home to edge out Penny Hall by half a length in the Joe Cooney Memorial Handicap Chase.

It was Walsh's turn again in the feature as he excelled on hold-up performer Karlo in the Kieran Kelly Memorial Handicap Chase.

The David Kiely-trained gelding came from the clouds to challenge at the last and despite an untidy jump he wore down Domnul Admiral close home.

Flood completed his haul when Sharp Doctor ran out an easy winner of the New Forest Golf Beginners Chase.

The gelding had his rivals in trouble before the second last and cruised home for a four-and-a-half length verdict over Depth Perception.
