Review KILLARNEY 9TH MAY

Pat Verling and Johnny Allen teamed up to take the feature on day two of the Killarney May meeting as Berkley stayed on best in the 2m6f handicap chase.

The light-weight headed the front-running Prince Of Pleasure at the second last, and was driven out to score by three and a half lengths with Golden Storm in third.

'He's been very consistent all winter, and if the weather dries up we'll leave him off for a while. I'm looking forward to next season when he'll go for the good staying handicaps,' said Verling

The Fermoy trainer reports Sabadilla in good form, and is hoping to send the former Galway Hurdle winner over fences shortly.

Eoghan O'Grady saddled his first winner since taking over the licence from his father Arthur in March when On the Net took the 2m4f maiden hurdle.

O'Grady, 26, also partnered the gelding who was up with the pace throughout to beat 11/10 fav French Accordion by 1 1/2L whose chance was not helped by stumbling on landing after the last.

The placings were unchanged after an enquiry into interference involving the first three home before the last but O'Grady was suspended for two days for careless riding.

'I rode this horse to win two bumpers and a point-to-point, and it's great to get off the mark as a trainer,' said O'Grady who has eight horses in his care.

Kahuna (2/1-7/2) gained a long overdue win over fences when making all under Shay Barry in the 2m1f beginners chase.

Dusty Sheehy's charge found plenty under pressure when challenged from two out by the evens Davenport Milenium to score by three and a half lengths.

Pat O'Connor, successful here on Sunday with Eurotrack, was on the mark again when sending out Ray Boy to land the odds in the 2m1f conditions hurdle.

The promising 6yo led before four out, and Conor O'Dwyer could afford to take it easy in the straight for an effortless 12L verdict over main market rival Master Ofthe Chase.

'He's a class horse and will go for some of the better races next season over three miles. That's it for this season and he is going out in the field next week,' said the Waterford handler.

Advance Guard (Niall McCullagh) held the strong late run of Morning Glow by half a length in the 1m handicap, with the heavily-backed Tiffany Gardens (3/1-6/4f) dropping away to finish fourth.

McCullagh was just denied a double half-an-hour later in the fillies auction maiden when Stylish Bid was caught close home by the Declan McDonogh-ridden newcomer Danzelline.

Faithlegg Girl benefited from an enterprising ride by David Moran in the 12f apprentice handicap, dashing clear early in the straight to beat Wildwood by 4 1/2L.
