Review KILLARNEY 7TH MAY

Brogella turned the Murphys Irish Stout Handicap Hurdle into a procession at Killarney yesterday.

The Francis Crowley-trained mare was racing from 4lb out of the handicap but defied her rating to pull clear of her field at the fourth last.

Tom Treacy had to sit tight when she hit the second last but the mistake didn't knock her momentum and she kept on strongly before easing down after the last to score by six lengths.

Adamant Approach kept on in the straight to grab second close home from Arc En Ciel.

Brogella was due to be covered and retired to the paddocks but Crowley revealed afterwards (by phone) that the mare would now be kept in training next year.

Tony McCoy partnered his first winner at the course when Poc Fada claimed the Gleneagle Hotel Handicap Chase.

The Christy Roche-trained gelding went to the front three out and asserted at the last when challenger Adonia made a mistake.

Breathing Fire (4/7f) was a warm order in the opening Killarney Towers Hotel Maiden Hurdle but couldn't peg back 20/1 shot Artiste Bay in the home straight.

The Killarney Grand Hotel Handicap Hurdle produced a thrilling finish with Threequarter Moon just repelling the flying finish of Wheresben.

Johnny Harrington was full of praise for Andrew Leigh after he gave Brutto Facie a fine ride to land the O'Connor, Sutton, & Cronin Consulting Engineers Chase.

There was a blanket finish to the Dawn Reid Ladies Handicap with Pine Valley and Laura Hourigan prevailing by a neck while point-to-point recruit Bien Bronze looked a smart prospect when landing the bumper.
