LEOPARDSTOWN REVIEW

Well Tutored left some dismal efforts behind him when landing a gamble in

the Mick Holly Memorial Handicap Chase at Leopardstown.

Pulled up in the Thyestes Chase last time, Arthur Moore's nine-year-old was

backed into 3-1 favouritism and tracked the leaders under David Casey.

The pair struck for home rounding the turn and the result never looked in

too much doubt from that point, with Well Tutored clearing away to beat

Mattock Ranger by three and a half lengths.

Casey supplemented that success when Perce Rock put in a clear round to

account for the Moore-trained Lenrey by three and a half lengths in the

Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase.

The 6-4 jolly stalked the runner-up when that one took over three-out, and

after hitting the front at the last, stuck to his guns to reward

favourite-backers.

French import River Liane emerged as a live Cheltenham candidate when

hammering his rivals in the Madigans Hurdle.

Now with Tom Cooper, the 5-1 shot strode five and a half lengths clear of

Made In Taipan and heads for the Fred Winter.

Ruby Walsh teamed up with Willie Mullins to claim the Irish Stallion Farms

EBF Maiden Hurdle with 100-30 chance Shakervilz, but the pair were denied a

quick follow-up when the Tony Martin-trained Save The Bacon took the

two-mile maiden.

Martin racked up a double when Northern Alliance overcame a final-flight

blunder in the Waterways Handicap Hurdle.

The 4-1 favourite rallied well for Robbie Colgan to pip Splurge in a photo,

while Zarinava (100-30) showed the benefit of experience in claiming the

Leopardstown Aertel Page 277 INH Flat Race.

Over at Clonmel, Streets Of Gold regained the winning thread with a

workmanlike display in the Moyle Rovers County Senior Football Champions

Hurdle.

The 11-4 chance made his move before the turn for home and stayed on well to

complete a brace for Alan Crowe and Christy Roche, who also struck with

Wheels Up (4-7) in the Moyle Rovers County Junior Hurling Champions Maiden

Hurdle.
