Review leopardstown 15th Apr

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen continued their excellent form as Fascinating Rock returned with a victory in the Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown.

Sent off 9-10 favourite for his seasonal debut, the Fastnet Rock colt tracked pacesetter Seanie for much of the contest before taking it up inside the final furlong.

He kept on well under pressure to score by a length and three-quarters from Alive Alive Oh, who stayed on well for second.

The colours of Newtown Anner Stud Farms Ltd were also carried to victory by Corbata (9-4jt-fav) in the Leopardstown Club 'Summer' Membership Handicap.

The John Oxx-trained winner was always going well in behind long-time leader Sakhees Jack but was made to work hard once hitting the front and only had half a length to spare over Duca Valentinois at the line.

Aidan O'Brien got on the scoresheet in the Bulmers Live At Leopardstown Summer Racedays 2015 (C & G) Maiden courtesy of Hans Holbein (3-1).

Joseph O'Brien soon had the Montjeu colt out in front and he responded well when challenged by 8-11 favourite Valac, pulling out more to win by two and three-quarter lengths.

Sacrificial (15-8fav) proved a gutsy winner of the opening Racecourse Of The Year Maiden.

The most experienced runner in the line-up, Ger Lyon's charge set the pace with Gulf Of Poets and that pair did battle up the home straight.

The winner, on his first start since being gelded, showed a great attitude to get up by a neck from the staying-on Father Christmas.

There was more joy for favourite-backers when Princess Aloof (7-2) powered home to land the Ross Nugent Foundation Handicap by a length and three-quarters from Beau Satchel.

The Jim Bolger-trained Ringside Humour (evens fav) fought off Extreme Appeal to succeed in the Spin 1038 Handicap by two lengths, while Mistiness (10-1) edged out Diesel Ten by a nose in the closing Leopardstown 'Club 25' Membership Handicap.
