Review LIMERICK 14TH NOV

One Cool Cookie made all for an impressive six length win in the Fillet Beef - Medium Rare Maiden Hurdle (division 1), providing jockey David Casey with the first leg of an 11/2 double, at Limerick today.

Charlie Swan's gelding (1/2f) looked a good thing on paper and easily shook off the challenge of Zarghari from the home turn, with a bold jump at the final flight sealing the easy win.

One Cool Cookie was confirming the promise shown when winning a point to point at Killaloe earlier this year and is held in high regard by Swan who reported 'he is a real chaser in the making.'

He added 'he may run only once or twice more this season and he will be kept for chasing. He'd probably prefer faster ground and would have been better with a lead today.'

Casey also landed division 2 of the 2m3f maiden hurdle, scoring on Sean Aherne's park newcomer Sheebadiva.

Sheebadiva, a previous point to point winner, was a winning spare ride for jockey David Casey who was replacing the injured Niall Madden.

Ahern later mentioned 'it didn't look the strongest of races but my mare is tough and will be better over further.'

25/1 debutante winners are nothing new but when Buachaill Eile landed the 2m3f maiden hurdle (div 1), he surely created a record with his tote win dividend of E88.80 bettered by a whopping place dividend of E236.70.

Eric McNamara's horses are in fine form recently and Buachaill Eile's win was the Co Limerick trainer's second in two days, Hordago having landed a Listed hurdle at Cheltenham yesterday.

The opening Smoked Salmon & Prawns 3yo Maiden Hurdle (2m) went to Miss Caruso, a first winner over jumps for trainer Patrick Prendergast, in a misleadingly fast time of 4m04.6s, on heavy ground.

According to Prendergast, Miss Caruso 'will probably go for the Durkan Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas but I'd like her to learn a bit more first.'

He added 'I don't get sent many jump horses but Miss Caruso is in the box where former Champion Hurdle winner Proclamation once occupied, so there is nothing wrong with my place as a jumps yard!'

Trainer Eoin Doyle has done an excellent job with his The Fonze who completed a hat-trick of wins in the Crhme Brulee Handicap Hurdle.

The Fonze, under good 7lb claimer Niki O'Shea, raced in rear before making steady progress to lead at the final flight, eventually staying on well for a very easy length and a half success.
