Review LISTOWEL 19TH SEP

The Willie Mullins-trained Killultagh Storm gave an exhibition of fencing to land the Southampton Goodwill Chase at Listowel yesterday. Killultagh Storm bounced out in front with Shay Barry and the pair went clear after three out to beat Go Roger Go by a comprehensive eight lengths.

There was an all-female success in the Harp Lager Handicap as Catherine Gannon combined with Irene Oakes to collect the ten furlong event with Frosty Wind. Although soundly beaten on his previous start at Leopardstown earlier this month, Frosty Wind made all of the running to account for Take Flite by three and a half lengths.

Helen Keohane is riding with terrific confidence at present and she piloted her twelvth winner of the season by teaming-up with Austin Leahy to capture the opening Mermaids Handicap with Kompressor.

Owned by Leahy's wife Ellen, Kompressor ultimately dispensed with Nathan Jones by a comfortable three lengths whilst the Mark Loughnane-trained Camargue recorded a last-gasp victory with Billy Lee in the Jet O'Carroll Memorial Handicap.

Tadhg O'Shea is enjoying a good run and he was on the mark when bringing the Michael Halford-trained Royal Devotion with a well-timed challenge to collect the first division of the Dillon Plant Hire Maiden.

Meanwhile, Pat Smullen returned to the coveted number one spot aboard the Dermot Weld-trained On The Horizon in the second part of this ten-furlong event.

The Charlie Swan-trained Mocharmor obliged with David Casey in the John J. Galvin Maiden Hurdle whilst Michael Hourigan's Almier landed the Paud Fitzmaurice Memorial Flat Race.
