Review LISTOWEL 18TH SEP

20/1 shot Dingle Belle broke her duck in great style when running out a cosy winner of the Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel on Tuesday.

Jessica Harrington's charge, who has been place nine times on the flat and over hurdles, finally gained a much deserved first success in the 55,000 event.

Promising claimer Shane Jackson, having only his second ride for the yard, produced the filly to led before the last and she skipped clear for an impressive four-and-a-half length margin over Head Waiter.

'At long last! She's been second three times on the Flat and 3 times over hurdles. She's kept me waiting a long time,' exclaimed Harrington.

'I actually thought today that with the weight she had compared to my other two that she had a great chance.

'Everything went right for her. They went a good gallop and Shane gave her a great ride. She had a wind operation earlier in the summer and it's made all the difference to her.'

The Ken Condon-trained Lilleshall also sprang a 20/1 shock earlier on the card when showing her rivals a clean pair of heels in the 50,000 Goffs Autumn Bonus.

The daughter of Spectrum was soon in front, under Colm O'Donoghue, and stayed on strongly down the straight to score by a length-and-three-quarters from The Quiet Enforcer.

'The better ground made a big difference to her. That was the plan today and she's paid her way now,' said stable representative Darren Bunyan.

The Dermot Weld-trained No Strings, last on his debut at Gowran Park, showed significant improvement from that run when claiming the juvenile maiden.

It took a while for the penny to drop with the Diesis colt but he found an extra gear in the final furlong and just managed to edge out Flight Of The Hawk close home after a good duel.

'He didn't really help me down the straight - he was all over the place and was very green,' revealed jockey Pat Smullen afterwards.

Gist was stuck out wide all the way in the opening six-furlong handicap but still managed to produce a late surge for a head victory over Teachers Choice.

Winning trainer Willie Martin hopes that his 'beautifully bred' charge may be capable of landing a Listed contest.

Ruby Walsh produced 9/4f Millanymare with a perfectly timed challenge to land the handicap chase.

The Tony Martin-trained daughter of Old Vic was produced to lead at the second last and galloped on strongly to score by three-lengths from De Chirico.

Desert Mile burst through in the final 100 yards to claim the fillies handicap while Sian Thomas galloped on strongly in the closing stages to claim the concluding maiden hurdle.
