Review PUNCHESTOWN 31ST DEC

It was more disappointment for the connections of Total Enjoyment at Punchestown yesterday as the mare finished a well-beaten sixth in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle.

Asian Maze made all for an impressive victory in the Listed contest under man-of-the-moment Paul Carberry. Jim Culloty flew over to partner Total Enjoyment but Tom Cooper's mare came under pressure after three out and dropped away tamely from the penultimate flight.

Asian Maze was taking her winning run to four and could afford to ease down close home to beat Sunami Storm by four-and-a-half lengths.

She's a great stayer. Paul made his own mind up to go to the front, we didn't give him any instructions. I'll find a conditions race for her somewhere and she'll stick to the longer distances, said winning trainer Paddy Mullins.

Culloty reported that he had never been happy with Total Enjoyment: She didn't give me the same feeling today and was never really travelling.

GVA Ireland (8/13f) was another 'good thing' to bite the dust as he failed to reel in Lincam in the opening Visit The Panoramic Restaurant Beginners Chase.

Lincam provided the first leg of a quick double for Carberry when jumping to the front four out in the three-mile contest. GVA Ireland still had plenty of ground to make up at that point and couldn't peg back Charlie Swan's gelding, going down by 15 lengths.

Mrs Wallensky scored in impressive fashion on her handicap debut when sweeping to the lead turning for home, and going on to beat Holly Lass by nine lengths, in the Buy Your Tickets Online At www.punchestown.com Handicap Hurdle.

Grangehill Dancer has been the model of consistency over hurdles and gained her reward when taking the Celebrate New Year's Eve 3-Y-O Hurdle.

The front-running Rocksham battled well to land the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle while Le Frere gained his first success in the Buy Your Punchestown Annual Membership For 2005 Handicap Chase.
