Review ROSCOMMON 10TH JUN

Dermot Weld notched a double as In A Rush and Vision Of Grandeur ran out impressive winners at Roscommon on Sunday.

Pat Smullen had few anxious moments on 9/10 shot In A Rush in the opening fillies maiden as she pulled clear from over a furlong out for an effortless five-and-a-half length success.

Stable apprentice Shane Gorey was on board as Vision Of Grandeur completed a hat trick in emphatic fashion in the mile-and-a-half handicap.

The Grand Lodge gelding went clear before the straight and stayed on strongly to post a six-length margin over Our Jaffa.

Little Nymph benefited from a fine front-running ride by Seamus Heffernan as she ran out a cosy two-length winner of the seven-furlong handicap.

'The six furlongs was too sharp for her at the Curragh last time and she's much better on a turning track,' said trainer's son Michael Grassick junior.

'Seamus rode a nice race, as nothing wanted to go on. She likes it here and won at the track around this time last year also. We'll look for a similar handicap for her.'

Red Moloney looked the sort to progress to better things as he claimed the ten-furlong maiden in good style.

Declan McDonogh produced his mount with a storming run on the wide outside to lead over a furlong out and he galloped on strongly for a four-length victory.

'I think that was probably a good country maiden. He could improve further. He's a big horse and that was only his second run,' said trainer Kevin Prendergast.

Ruby Walsh proved the punters pal once again as he partnered a double in contrasting styles.

5/4f Jubilant Note proved a steering job in the novice chase as he cantered to a 12-length win but Hegrid (7/2jf) needed all his assistance in the handicap hurdle.

Tony Martin's charge responded gamely in the closing stages as he got up in the dying strides to gain a head verdict over Balakan.
