Review THURLES 10-FEB-2000

Amberleigh House paid Gold Cup-hope Florida Pearl a handsome compliment when landing the featured Kinloch Brae Chase under Paul Carberry.

Michael Hourigan's 8yo, narowly defeated by Florida Pearl 2m3f receiving 40lb last month, collared front-running Thyestes scorer Micko's Dream after the 2nd last to score by 3 1/2L.

'He jumped very well on that ground and he'll run in a handicap chase at Cheltenham next,' said joint owner, Irish-based American David Doane.

Noel Meade brought his seasonal tally to 50 when Roses Of Picardy (4/5-4/6f) came home unchallenged in the 2m2f novice chase.

Her task was eased somewhat when market rival Janiste (5/2), who was 2l adrift and under pressure, suffered a crashing fall at the last.

' She's coming along nicely and if she's alright she'll run at Naas in a 2 1/2m Grade 3 chase later this month,' said Meade.

Winning rider Paul Carberry, successful earlier on Amberleigh House, is now 7 behind championship leader Barry Geraghty, who has 55 wins under his belt .

Just two horses dominated the betting for the 2m6f novice hurdle with Myheartisbroken (5/4-6/4-5/4) heading front-running Kirmar (4/5f) approaching the last on his way to a 1/2L victory.

The runner-up stumbled when headed before the last prompting an angry Jason Titley to remark, ' Did you see the holes - it's disgraceful. My horse could have broken a leg there.'

Local trainer Tim Doyle found the winners enclosure after the opener when The Moyne Machine (8/1-10/1-8/1) and Richie Condon obliged from Alcapone.

Mouse Morris, trainer of the runner-up, went one better later when Moral Support defied top-weight under Conor O'Dwyer in the 3m handicap hurdle.

Kevin Prendergast's newcomer Kolleya (4/5-9/10f), a #5,000 purchase at the Newmarket July Sales, scored under Philip Fenton in the finale.

'There's a winners bumper at Leopardstown for him next and if the ground was good at Cheltenham I wouldn't be too afraid of what I've seen so far,' said the Curragh trainer.
