Review THURLES 30TH MAR

Thurles' amazing all-weather-except-frost track staged an industry day card at Thurles today where jockey Wayne Lordan record a double for trainers Tommy Stack and Austin Leahy.

Lordan, who had recorded another double at The Curragh last Sunday, landed the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden on Stack's well backed 11/8 favourite Disclosure.

Disclosure tracked the leaders, moved through to lead over one furlong out before staying on under pressure for a three length win over Baynes Cross.

Afterwards, Stack's son Fozzy reported 'Disclosure should stay further and will go for a handicap or winners race. He'll make a grand three year old hurdler later this year.'

Co Limerick trainer Austin Leahy was also quickly off the mark for the new season, when Walk In My Shadow arrived late to score by a short head, under Lordan, in the Devils Bit Handicap (division 2).

Leahy later reported 'Walk In My Shadow was fit from hurdling and she had already won on heavy ground; we'll mix it between Flat and hurdles now. '

Master jockey Michael Kinane produced Grisham with a perfectly timed challenge to win the Nenagh Handicap (division 2), on his first ride for trainer Michael Phillips.

Phillips later described Kinane's performance as 'a super ride' before adding 'it's nice to get ourselves off to a 100% start for the new Flat season!'

Trainer Pat Flynn described his stable jockey Danny Grant as a 'serious rider with great strength' following his win on River Nurey in the Devils Bit Handicap (division 1).

Grant, who recently regained his 3lb claim following an alteration to the age allowed to claiming jockeys, produced River Nurey to lead inside the final furlong before staying on for a length and a half win.

Afterwards, the Co Waterford trainer reported 'River Nurey is a nice horse who will mix it between hurdling and Flat racing. It's great to have Danny back claiming 3lbs and he has 11 more winners left to lose it again.'

Philip Rothwell's horses are in fine form and his Max Scal won the Nenagh Handicap (division 1), a first win for jockey Warren O'Connor since last August.

Francis Flood's Blanchfield landed the Clonoulty Mares Bumper, under Jmaes O'Farrell.

Flood later reported 'Blanchfield is from a good family and will definately make a nice jumper in time.'

Following on from his Cheltenham heroics, amateur jockey Richard Harding made all to win the concluding bumper on Liam Burke's Supreme Developer.
