Review TIPPERARY 19TH MAY

Ruby Walsh survived a scare with his tack to land the Tipperary Hurdle in good style aboard Eye Candy at the Limerick junction track.

Walsh produced the well-backed favourite (5/2 to 7/4) to lead at the last and went on to record a comfortable length-and-a-half success over Strides Of Fire.

But the Champion jockey had to kick out his irons crossing the line as the saddle started to slip round. He held the tack in place, however, to the relief of punters.

Trainer Sandra McCathy revealed that she could return to the course with the winner for a Grade 3 contest on July 10th.

Walsh doubled up when French Accordion (1/1f) battled well to open his account in the Ballykisteen Maiden Hurdle.

Paul Nolans's gelding led at the second last but was made to fight for his length victory as King Of Foxrock threw down a determined challenge.

Robbie Mac (4/5f) was sent off odds-on in the (Q.R.) Handicap Hurdle but had to fight hard to prevail by a short-head from Cheeky Robin.

Ballydoyle juvenile Amigoni (4/6f) was another warm order in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden but never got into contention as Cappa Black ran out a convincing winner for in-form trainer David Wachman.

Absolute Magic was a comfortable two-length winner of the opening Oola Maiden for Pat Smullen and Dermot Weld while while the 36-rated Measured Leap ensured her racing survival by landing the Dunbavin Handicap for Pat Martin and Niall McCullagh.
