Review TIPPERARY 23RD JUN

Punters at Tipperary witnessed some stylish performances as several of the night's winners recorded easy victories.

Emmpat (1/3f) was a warm order in the T.I.R.D Novice Hurdle and duly won as an odds-on shot should.

Ruby Walsh sat out the back on the Tony Mullins-trained gelding before producing him to lead after the second last. He quickly settled matters and cruised to an effortless two-length victory over 33/1 shot Ballyhoctor.

It was an equally impressive performance from David Wachman's Always A Star (7/4f) in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

Kieren Fallon sent his mount on two furlongs out and eased her down in the closing stages to win by three lengths from Shinko Dancer.

Szewinska benefited from the fast conditions in the Tipperary Town & District Traders Maiden as she gained a comfortable length-and-a-half success over Ardea Brave.

'She had surgery on her palate during the winter. On her last run at Leopardstown it was soft and Mick (Kinane) said she choked badly. She goes well on fast and might go for a handicap now,' said John Oxx's assistant Jimmy O'Neill.

Cathy Gannon took over on the daughter of Green Desert with Mick Kinane giving up his mounts following the death of his mother Frances on Wednesday night.

Hanicor looks one to keep the right side of following his stylish win in the Tipperary Town & District Professionals Handicap.

'He's a big horse who took a long time to come to himself,' said trainer Francis Crowley after the gelding beat Tamworth by two-and-a-half lengths. The winner could turn out again at the Curragh on Saturday.

Crowley also had positive news of Pretty Polly favourite Saoire: 'She's in very good form. It's her biggest test yet against the older fillies. It looks a very good race.'

David Boland shone on Dow Jones in the Tipperary Town and District Handicap Hurdle when partnering only his second winner. The 20-year-old Dubliner gave the gelding a fine front-running ride for boss Michael Halford.

1/1f Jomacomi was thrown out by the stewards after landing the Tipperary Publicans & Restaurants Maiden Hurdle.

Davy Russell had to get serious with his mount in the closing stages and crossed Dujareva, who eventually finished fourth. Straycat Strut, who finished second, was the beneficiary.
