Review TRALEE 2ND SEP

Palouse gave a polished display of jumping to maintain his 100% record over fences in the 2m4f novice chase on the final day of the Tralee festival.

The grey handed out a 3 1/2 length beating to favourite Tisrabraq, and Philip Rothwell will now consider a trip to the big Cheltenham meeting in November.

'He really loves his jumping, and I hope to bring him over for the Thomas Pink meeting in November. He was second in a novice hurdle there last year, and should get the good ground he likes,' added the young handler.

Veteran Eton Gale ended a winless spell stretching back to February 1998 with a game effort in the 2m6f handicap chase, staying on well from the final fence to repel the challenge of Bachelors Bar.

'He was a class horse on his day, and seems to retain plenty of enthusiasm for the game,' said trainer Eoin Griffin, who took charge of the ex-Noel Meade inmate six months ago.

Five-pound claimer Philip O'Brien produced Golden Row with a perfectly-timed challenge to land the 2m novice hurdle.

Favourite Get It On was done no favours by a funereal early pace, and could manage only third behind Charles Byrnes' winner, who is likely to reappear at Tipperary's richly-endowed 'Super Sunday' meeting.

Local trainer Tom Cooper, whose Montpelier Street was just touched off in the Cambridgeshire at the Curragh, was on the mark when Gallileo Strike denied well-backed favourite Johnny Ringo in the 2m handicap hurdle.

The five year-old, turning out quickly after finishing down the field in a flat handicap at the course on Thursday, stayed on well under Paul Carberry to score by 1 1/2 lengths.
