Review TRAMORE 30th May

Arcadius (7-2) built on his promising debut second over timber by going one better in the Brennan's Pharmacy Maiden Hurdle at Tramore.

John Halley's four-year-old cost $500,000 as a yearling and raced twice on the Flat for Aidan O'Brien, winning once, but was picked up for just 8,500 guineas in October and showed plenty of promise on his second start over obstacles.

Travelling smoothly into the lead approaching the second last, he jumped slightly to the left but was never in real danger close home, beating Sienna Storm by five and a half lengths under Davy Condon.

Borouj broke his maiden tag over hurdles at the 11th time of asking when edging out Conker Nails to land the Harney's Bar Handicap Hurdle.

Settled in the middle of the bunch by Shane Hassett, the 10-1 shot took over from long-time leader Berkerys Treasure at the second-last flight.

Hassett had to be at his strongest on the Philip Fenton-trained six-year-old, as he held off Conker Nails' persistent challenge to emerge victorious by a head. Favourite Vanishing Causeway dead-heated for third with Hidden Commotion.

Jessica Harrington's Daytona Lily left her recent form firmly behind when running out a game winner of the opening August Festival 14th to 17th Maiden Hurdle.

Sea Beauty shot into the lead early on, but could not keep up the gallop, leaving Daytona Lily as one of four horses in with a shout at the fourth-last flight.

Jumping into the lead two out, the 20-1 shot ran on strongly under Mark Bolger to repel the fast-finishing Four On The Floor by a length.

Darenjan kept favourite-backers happy with an easy success in the Rockets Of The Metal Man Handicap Hurdle. The 3-1 winner is set to reappear at Listowel on Sunday.

Liam Cusack's Sense Of Awareness (9-1) took the John Harney On-Course Bookmaker Handicap Chase by two lengths from Tarn Ridge, while the Mary Grimes Catering Beginners Chase went the way of the Martin Hurley-trained 12-1 shot Bemo Two.
