Review TRAMORE 19TH AUG

Pat Flynn can do no wrong at present and the locally based trainer sent out his fourth winner in three days at Tramore today when his Lady Sharp landed the McDonald Bros. Handicap proving jockey Danny Grant with the first two winners.

Flynn later mentioned 'Lady Sharp finished fifth at Roscommon yesterday evening but Danny said she got no run so we decided to come here today. She's a very nice filly but is still a bit weak.'

Grant's second winner was awarded the race in the stewards' room, on Tom Cooper's Owennacurra Bobby in the Newbridge Silverware Handicap.

Michael Grassick's Lake Tahoe looked to have rewarded connections' patience when first past the post but had caused interference to Owennacurra Bobby, over 1f out and subsequently lost the race following a stewards' enquiry.

Mark Loughnane's Constantine proved the game winner of the Auto Boland Land Rover Handicap, making all and staying on well to defeat Fayr Star by a length and a half.

Afterwards Loughnane reported 'Constantine may go back hurdling now. He is rated 107 and has won three times over hurdles.'

He added 'he had been in training with Gary Moore in England and his owners sent him to came to Ireland for a change in scenery, which seems to have worked.'

Long Journey caused a 25/1 surprise when staying on late to deny Hawkwind by half a length, in the Waterford Crystal Noel M. Griffin Memorial Handicap, under Robbie Burke.

Osbourne later explained 'Long Journey seemed to enjoy it here and the cut in the ground was what he needed. He'll mix it between the Flat and hurdles now.'

Ken Condon's Sue Princess, subsequently claimed for E15,605 by Ruaidhri Tierney, ran out the five and a half length winner of the Morris Builders Providers Claiming Race, under Colm O'Donoghue.

In the money on eight of her previous 15 starts, the daughter of Alhaarth led over two furlongs out, before stayed on well in the closing stages to defeat Market Watcher.

Condon was absent but was represented by Darren Bunyan who reported 'that win was a long time coming, as she had been running consistently.'

The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden went to John Oxx's Edessya, out of Moyglare Stakes winner Edabiya, who made all for an easy 14 length win, proving too strong for 8/13 favourite Ocean Pearl.

Robbie McNamara is already as good, and far better, than some of his jockey relations and the 17 year old rode his seventh winner on Dermot Weld's Le Leopard in the concluding W.L.R. FM Race.
