Review TRAMORE 12TH OCT

The Bowe family look to have another useful addition to their string after Coolcashin made an impressive winning debut at Tramore.

The Taipan gelding was sent to the head of affairs with a circuit to run, by Michelle Gannon, in the Lisselan Ladies Flat Race.

He pulled away from his rivals two furlongs out to record a cosy five-length success over Cannery Row.

'He's a grand young horse and hopefully he'll come on for that - it's the first time he's seen a racecourse,' said Michael Bowe.

'He jumps well and has schooled over hurdles. He might go down that route. His dam won a ladies bumper first time up and so has this fellow now.'

Liz Doyle was fined 200 after being double booked to ride in the event.

A change of tactics and the application of cheek-pieces did the trick for Gilo, who made all for an easy success in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle.

Denis O'Regan was soon clear on his mount and he never saw another rival, coming home a 16-length winner over Lord Goshen.

'He wasn't putting it in before so we decided to make the running and put the cheek-pieces on,' revealed trainer Maureen Danagher. 'He's a bit of a rogue!'

Collinstown travelled sweetly into the lead before the second last in the Newtown Handicap Chase and stayed on well for Barry Geraghty in the closing stages to score by six lengths from Lyn's Rashar.

'We'll try and find another similar race for him and may even go to England. At one time we thought he liked good ground but Barry said he handled that well,' said winning trainer Robert Tyner.

Museo enhanced his sales value when getting off the mark in the Sponsor A Race At Tramore Handicap.

Charles O'Brien's charge, who is due to go under the hammer at Newmarket on October 24th, made virtually all, repelling the challenge of 5/2f Princess Nicole by four lengths.

German import Dschungel Song ended a lean spell for trainer John O'Shea when claiming the Waterford & Tramore Directors Claiming Race.

'That was badly needed. We had such a frustrating summer - the horses just weren't firing. He'll probably go for a maiden hurdle now,' said O'Shea.

Violet Wings sprang a 20/1 shock in the Guillamene Maiden when leading early in the straight and staying on well to beat Jayo by a head.

Fantastic Fleur returned a generous price on the Tote (43.10) when claiming the concluding Graun Hill Handicap Hurdle.
