Review TRAMORE 14TH OCT

Trainer Charles O'Brien registered his first ever win at Tramore today when Bauhaus landed the Guillamene Maiden under Davy Condon.

The 70 rated gelding chased the leaders before striking the front three furlongs from home, eventually seeing off the challenge of Pelagias Star by eight lengths.

O'Brien was not present but reported by phone that 'the winner will now be sent to the horses-in-training sale at Newmarket later this month' while adding 'I have barely had a runner in Tramore prior to today!'

Ex-jockey Susan Finn has made a fine start to her training career and saddled Escenica to win the opening www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle, under Mark Walsh.

Walsh excelled on the winner, saving ground on the inner before striking the front on the run to the final flight. According to Finn, 'Escenica would have preferred an ease in the ground today but may run again in a handicap at Cork on Sunday, if there is a bit of cut in the ground.'

She added 'she was entitled to win on her best form and that's the first win for her owner John Kelly.'

Former Champion Claiming rider Keith Hadnett has endured four different injuries to his shoulder in the last year but is riding as well as ever and partnered 16/1 shot Jakeups Fold to win the two mile handicap hurdle for trainer John O'Shea.

A relieved O'Shea later mentioned 'the horse has been very frustrating to follow but deserved to finally get his head in front. He'll go for something similar again.'

Twenty two year old apprentice jockey Mark Flynn rode his second winner for new boss Ger Lyons when Benwilt Gold won the Unecol Oil Company Claiming Race.

The jockey, from Enfield in Co Meath, previously rode 23 winners in England for Alan Berry and Mark Brisbourne but has now returned to ride in Ireland fulltime.

Pat Doyle's former point to point winner Chilled Sweet won the 2m6f handicap chase under Davy Russell while Seamus Heffernan was on board Michael Grassick's Desert Of Gold, who won the Sponsor A Race At Tramore Handicap
