Milanesque was the subject of strong support throughout the day, and showed that confidence wasn't misplaced when taking the Thurles Racecourse Handicap Chase in emphatic fashion.

The Paul Flynn-trained gelding, available at 7/1 this morning and further backed on track from 7/2 into 3/1 favourite, took control in the straight of this three-mile event.

The seven-year-old son of Milan galloped on strongly under Eamonn Corbett to record a five and a half lengths verdict over Rare Legend Gibbstown was a further 13 lengths away in third.

Flynn said, "It wasn't a great race but he was handicapped to do that and showed promise at Naas the last day.

"He had form in point to points but broke down and needs to be paying for himself now."
