Mistiness just held on to take the finale at Leopardstown, the Leopardstown 'Club 25' Membership Handicap, scoring under Chris Hayes for Paul Deegan and owner Robert Ng (his third winner since Sunday).

The trio combined to score with Aussie Valentine over the course on Sunday and they followed up here with the son of Astronomer Royal who was fitted with cheekpieces for the first time.

Sent off a 10/1 chance the four-year-old gelding made all. He was ridden turning into the straight and he kept on gamely under pressure inside the final furlong to just get the better of Diesel Ten by a nose.

The runner-up was returned at 20/1 under Emmet McNamara for Anthony McCann while Colla Pier (6/1) finished a further two and three parts of a length back in third under Billy Lee for Pat Mooney.

Paul Deegan said afterwards: "It was great front-running ride. He's always shown a bit and ran well here in a maiden.

"He didn't face the blinkers on his last start last year. He got it easy in front today and made the best of his way home. I thought he was beaten.

"He'll go for something similar and could stretch out (in trip) a little. He doesn't mind slow ground and there is another race of two in him."
