Mitiva stayed on best in the closing stages to make a winning debut for Liz Doyle in the concluding bumper at Thurles today.

The race boiled down to a duel between the newcomer and 13/8 favourite Brookline down the straight with the market leader appearing to travel best passing the two marker.

Mitiva found plenty for Jody Townend however and the Motivator filly edged ahead at the furlong pole.

The four-year-old galloped on strongly to the line to post a two-and-a-half length win at odds of 14/1.

"I wanted some reasonable ground somewhere so that's why we came here and she is qualified for the Fillies E5,000 Bonus.

"She is a little bit hot, being by Motivator so I hadn't done much fast work with her at home and Jody said she was plenty green when she got there.

“She is really nice and is a half-sister to Mister Coffey who is a little bit hot as well but she settled well today.

"She could be smart because she is only a baby, has a beautiful pedigree and was very green. She is really something to look forward to and jumps like a cat.

"Black-type would be the next step but unfortunately she may be sold."
