Modem justified odds-on favouritism in the Kerrymaid Hurdle scoring under Robbie Power for Jessica Harrington and owner Turlough Blessing.

The five-year-old son of Motivator was sent off the 9/10 favourite and he was settled in second.

He dropped to third after four out but regained second approaching the straight and came with his challenge before two out.

He was ridden before the last and hit the front shortly after that flight, keeping on well from there to score by half a length. Cardinal Palace (6/1) came through to take second under David Casey for James Nash while the front running Aminabad was a further two and three parts of a length back in third.

Aminabad was still disputing the lead when he made a mistake at the last.

Robbie Power said afterwards: "He was entitled to win on ratings as he was getting four pounds from Aminabad.

"He jumped super and travelled great today and while he got there too soon at Killarney, I had to wait until between the last two to hit the front today."
