Moment causes shock in amateur maiden

Denis Cullen saddled his first winner at the Galway Festival when Catch The Moment belied her odds of 25/1 for a convincing victory in the Tote Trifecta (Q.R.) Maiden. The seven-year-old mare made all under Barry O'Neill, and had the race won when shooting clear approaching the home straight. She kept on well to beat Paddy The Celeb (12/1) by three lengths, and paid a handsome €41.90 for a win on the Tote. The 7/4 favourite Mutasharef was a further length and three quarters adrift in third. A delighted Cullen said, “She won well over hurdles at Wexford but then lost her way a little. I think she needs to arrive at the track a bit revved up, and its my fault that I eased off her a bit. Barry gave her a good ride from the front, and filled her with air before going up the hill. We'll look at Listowel for maybe a hurdle, and she has been schooled over fences. I'd like to get her some black type either over hurdles or fences before she retires to the paddock.” Alan Magee
