Money talks for Shaciara

The money came for Shaciara in the 2m6f maiden hurdle at Downpatrick and she stuck to her task well to reward supporters.

The Philip Rothwell-trained filly was as big as 6/1 on track but was punted into 3/1 joint-favourite along with Lea Lady

Bryan Cooper sent the gamble to the front before the third last but she had a fight on her hands at the penultimate flight.

The daughter of Shantou went on again before the last and kept up the gallop on the run-in to record a length-and-three-quarters victory over her market rival.

"It was Bryan's first ride for me. He's a nice lad and I'm delighted he got a winner for us," said Rothwell.

"I thought she was thrown in weight wise with the 7lb claim as well. We felt like she was handicapped, as such, with all the weight allowances and I thought it was a good opportunity.

"I''m delighted she won and we'll go for a handicap with her now. She's only small."
