Montague gives O'Brien brace

Charles O'Brien completed a double when Ray Dawson gave Lady Montague a polished ride to claim the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap at Naas.

The 16-year-old, from Celbridge, was partnering his second winner when sending the filly to the front over a furlong out.

She stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length verdict over Boynagh Joy

"He gave her a good ride and didn't panic as they often go too quick in these type of races," said O'Brien.

"My horses weren't just right for a lot of last season."

O'Brien had also struck earlier with the Johnny Murtagh-ridden Bewitched
