Mullins doubles-up with Johnny

Willie Mullins doubled his score for the evening at Cork when Johnny McGeeney made a good debut by landing the Corkman Flat Race under Patrick.

In the familiar colours of owner breeder Eamonn Duignan, Patrick asked the son of Lahib to open up from over a furlong out and the response was generous as he drew clear to beat Summertime Solo by nine lengths.

Willie said of the 15/8 favourite, who had cantered into contention up the straight: "That's a nice surprise. I thought from all the talk beforehand that it was quite a good bumper. He stayed on well after Patrick had got him to settle.

"He is quite free at home. He'll probably go for a winners bumper now, though I didn't think that would be the course we'd be taking when we were coming here today. He surprised me."

The Closutton team had earlier been responsible for the easy victor, De Senectute under Paul Townend.

Arderin (16s into 3s), the big morning mover for the bumper was withdrawn on account of the ground.
