Murtagh times it well on Man

Righteous Man could be a name to follow next season after getting off the mark in the delayed opening nursery at Dundalk tonight.

Johnny Murtagh /a> produced the son of Mr Greeley with a strong run inside the final furlong.

He collared Blaze Brightly inside the final 100 yards to record a length-and-a-quarter victory for trainer Ger Lyons.

"He's a lovely horse. He doesn't even know he is a colt," said Shane Lyons, brother of the winning trainer.

"He'll be a trip horse next year. He's holding his coat well and if there is another race for him he could come back here.

"We're looking forward to running him over a trip next year and he could be one for premier handicaps. He has all the credentials to get 1m2f or 1m4f."

The first race was delayed by 18 minutes due to the absence of a second ambulance.
