Nina gets well-backed Boy home in style

Arabella Boy the strongly backed favourite (reportedly as big as 7/2 in the morning and 15/8 into 6/4 on track) took the Wexford Racecourse Supporters Club Maiden Hurdle in convincing fashion, benefiting from a positive ride from Nina Carberry.

She sent the chestnut on about his business from three out and the second market choice, Carrigmartin was soon struggling to make an impression. Guzzle An Go a half-sister to Whinstone Boy was making a very nice introduction, in third place, when she fell at the last. At the line Arabella Boy was four lengths in front of Carrigmartin.

Successful trainer, Enda Bolger said: "He is a nice little horse. He is an obvious chaser but he's a bit young for fences (has won a point-to-point) and he'll wait until next season for that. Having her ladyship on board is a bonus! I was cocky yesterday but I was the most cowardly man in Wexford today. The first horse I ever trained was for the owner (Andrew Berry) in the early eighties. He is a great patron of the yard."
