The judge couldn't split the County Tipperary-trained horses in the Something Happens Apprentice Handicap at Leopardstown. Snoozing Indian (Tom Madden up for Thomond O'Mara) and Settle For Red (Nathan Crosse aboard for David Marnane) shared the spoils.

It looked like Settle For Red had a mountain to climb after a slow break.

Observers may have been similarly incorrect when thinking that Snoozing Indian had it in the bag when striking for home over a furlong out.

Young Nathan Crosse had saved ground around the inner though on Settle For Red, and he got there in time to dead-heat.

"Something similar happened to me here one day before. I didn't think he'd held on so I'll take it," said O'Mara.

"He ran well the last day and he wasn't winning out of turn."

G.P. Halpin, rider of Khabaray trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount suffered interference turning in and did not act on the ground.

D. Robinson, rider of Rosenborg Rider trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount suffered interference turning into the straight.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Khabaray, trained by Richard John O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr.L.Walsh, that N.M. Crosse, rider of Settle For Red, weighed in 1.2lbs overweight.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he changed to waterproof breeches after weighing out.

Pat Martin, trainer, accompanied the rider in the Stewards room.

Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 231, having weighed in overweight and having considered his clean record, cautioned him.

Furthermore N.M.Crosse was found to be in breach of Rule 198(vi), having changed his breeches after weighing out, without reweighing and having considered his clean record, reminded him of his future responsibilities in this regard.
