Norwich wins dramatic Killarney opener

The opening Corcoran's Furniture & Carpets Killarney Beginners Chase proved a grief-stricken event with victory eventually going to Willie Mullins' 11/2 favourite Norwich Boy under Ruby Walsh.

The race saw both Corrick Bridge and Unforgettable both fall at the third last fence, with Norwich Boy badly hampered by Unforgettable's fall.

Eventual runner-up Tahitien Fix and jockey David Casey, were unlucky losers. Having survived a dreadful blunder at the fourth last fence, the pair looked sure to win at the final fence, only to fold on the run-in, when Norwich Boy swept past to record a length win. Tahitien Fix subsequently returned with a cut on his foot.

Winning trainer Mullins was absent for the success, a race which saw Marseillais take a fatal fall at the first fence.
