Denis O'Regan has his first rides at Tramore since the 2008/09 season when the County Cork native visits the south-eastern venue for three mounts.

Tramore represents a vastly different test for horse and jockey than the course that provided O'Regan with his latest winner - Barry Connell's retained rider triumphed at the stamina-sapping Welsh course Ffos Las on Monday aboard Paul Morgan's Limited Reserve.

O'Regan, a widely recognised stylist in the plate, is putting himself about in his quest for success. His engagements on this programme are for different trainers, none of which are for his main employer.

He will come up against fellow Youghal man Davy Russell when doing battle for owner Dr Ronan Lambe and handler, Robbie McNamara on Call Vinnie in the Waterford & Tramore Racecourse 2016 Recognition Award Beginners Chase.

Russell is on John Kiely's Vicky's Charm and whilst that one has fencing experience, Call Vinnie is now having his first attempt over racecourse fences.

The former Dermot Weld runner is still searching for a breakthrough victory under Rules. It's worth noting though, that Call Vinnie did score in a point-to-point when beginning for the Martin Cullinane nursery back in 2014.

O'Regan will team up with his long-time friend, former jockey Peter Kavanagh, on Town Pond in the Waterford & Tramore Directors Handicap Chase.

Kavanagh makes the journey down from County Meath with Town Pond. He is a Kilkenny man by origin, as is owner Martin Walsh, and they would enjoy a success at Tramore - it being one of their local courses. O'Regan is aboard the Beneficial gelding for the first time and a big performance can be expected.

Elsewhere, it's not difficult to envisage Willie Mullins, a director at the track, being to the forefront with his three representatives.

Two of these, Camelia de Cotte, and Torrent Des Mottes, are French imports to be ridden by Ruby Walsh. They will justifiably attract plenty of attention in the maiden hurdles at 12.25 and 1.25 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Patrick Mullins-owned and ridden Roumanian could follow up his Cork win, despite that being all of 630 days ago, in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Handicap Hurdle.
