O'Sullivan rides first winner

Twenty year old Patrick O’Sullivan, from Listowel, registered his career first winner at Tramore this evening, steering the James Cousins trained Never Bold to win the Exchange Bar Handicap Hurdle.

O’Sullivan moved the son of Limnos to the front after three out before keeping the gelding up to his work on the run-in for a length and three parts win over Orange Touch

Winning trainer James Cousins was not present, having chosen to attend the Sales at Tattersalls with winning owner Evelyn Sheridan.

Sheridan’s son John Sheridan, who works with Eoin Griffin, did represent the pair and said “we’re

delighted with that and he deserved it. He was third in this race last year and was unlucky at Downpatrick recently.”

He added “Patrick gave him a brilliant ride and followed the instructions to a tee.”
