Local trained Obispo landed the Ryder Support Beginners Chase at Downpatrick today, scoring for trainer Colin McBratney and jockey Adrian Heskin.

Heskin produced the gelding to lead from two out and from the last went clear of his rivals for a comfortable ten lengths win over Doc Hollywood

Afterwards McBratney stated “last year we were at our wits end with him but we're back on track now.

“We put the hood on him in Down Royal and it has brought him back to life. We freshened him up for this and he was lovely and fresh. “He'll probably come back here for a chase, there's a 0-109 handicap for him soon and today's win is great for the owner (Mrs Orla Cleary-O'Kane, from Cookstown).”
