Old Si continues Hughes' excellent run

Trainer Dessie Hughes saddled his fifth winner in a fortnight when his Old Si made a winning chase debut in the Joseph J.Grace Memorial Beginners Chase.

Ridden by Roger Loughran (who was riding his third winner in the same period of time), the gelding raced prominently throughout, jumped well, hit the front after the fifth last before staying on well in the straight for a half length win over More Sport

Afterwards Hughes reported "that was a good chasing introduction for Old Si and he took to the fences very well - he looks a natural. There are plenty of novice chases for him now."
