The Tom Foley trained Ontheground landed the opening Casey Concrete Gorey Maiden Hurdle at Wexford today, scoring under Roger Loughran.

The son of Presenting was sent to the front approaching the last and kept on well to record a length and a half win over Dr Linzi

Afterwards Foley stated “Ontheground liked the ground today – we've had to wait a very long time to get this ground and we had to run him a lot of times on ground he hated. He pulls hard at times so we rode him a bit differently today.

“The handicapper did him no favours for finishing second here on his last run, he got 9lbs, and we'll probably put him away now because we'll hardly get this ground again.

“He'll jump fences in time and will jump them well.”
