Onwards and upwards for Last Instalment

Last Instalment enhanced his reputation by coming home an easy winner of the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Casino Florida Pearl Novice Chase for his trainer Philip Fenton with Davy Russell aboard.

Just like Days Hotel in the previous race, Last Instalment was maintaining his 100% record over fences having scored on his first start over them last time out at Galway, where he beat Alpha Ridge by three and three parts of a length.

Having opened this morning at 11/10, the winning son of Anshan was well supported and went off the 8/11 favourite. Four Commanders attempted to make all under Andrew Lynch but the winner improved to lead entering the straight and asserted before the last to win by six and half lengths.

Winning trainer Philip Fenton said afterwards: "That was just perfect. It was a great round of jumping and he takes it all in his stride.

"I’d say he will go for the Fort Leney at Leopardstown at Christmas next.

We will feel our way with him and soft ground is important to him as he is a heavy-topped horse.

"Cheltenham would be the dream but we will see how he goes.

"With Dunguib on the sidelines it’s important to have one like him flying the flag."

Paddy Power are offering the best price at 16/1 about Last Instalment for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham from 20/1. Stan James are now going 12/1 from 25/1, while Grahams make him 14/1 from 25's.
