Option Be gains a well-deserved win

Option Be having only his second start for the Twist & Turn Syndicate and trainer Paul Flynn, received a rapturous reception on his return to the winners enclosure after making all in the Tote Placepot Races 1 To 6 Handicap under Padraig Beggy.

Option Be crossed the line in front last time at Down Royal but he was demoted to second after a steward's enquiry. On that occasion he hampered Prince Of Fashion and unfortunately lost the race.

The former Paul McEnery-trained and bred six-year-old was breaking his maiden here with this two length victory at the twenty eighth attempt and Flynn said: "Six furlongs is really his trip, he is quick and he just got away with it there (over seven furlongs). He travelled terrible and I had to have one of my staff with him the whole way over.

"He came over here because the lads (the owners) are from just down the road. He won't go to Galway as there is no race for him there. He'll go somewhere the week after."

The Twist & Turn Syndicate are a five-member grouping from Athlone, all of whom were present bar one who is holidaying in Portugal.
