Oscar Sam bounced back to winning ways when claiming the three-mile handicap hurdle at Leopardstown.

Robbie Power produced the 7/1 shot with a well-timed run to lead going to the last.

Jessica Harrington ’s charge stayed on well on the run-in to record a two-and-three-quarter length win over Mydor

“Carrying all that weight I thought the better ground would suit him,” said Harrington.

“He ran well here at Christmas without getting any luck in running and this was the next three-mile handicap he could go in to.

“We tried jumping fences with him and he didn’t really like them.

“We’ll go to Punchestown for the Pertemps Qualifier. We’ll rest on today and let the rest of the season work itself out.

“That’s only his third run this year so he hasn’t had half as much hardship as last year.”

Power added:- “I always thought he wanted soft ground but he is by Oscar and most of them like better ground.

“Jessie said that he’s never been in such good form. He took a long time to come to hand this season. He went over fences but that didn’t go too well.”
