Oscar turns mares chase into procession

There was a family success in the mares beginners chase at Clonmel when Kind Oscar ran out an easy winner for the Hannons.

James Hannon partnered the daughter of Oscar and sent her to the front turning for home.

She soon scooted clear and cruised to the line to record a 20-length victory over Flirthing Around

It was a second success on the track for the 26-year-old amateur from Tallow in County Waterford.

"Going to the last I looked behind me expecting to see something but she's won very easy," said Hannon.

The winner was trained by the jockeys brother Ian. He is based at their parents Old Road Stud in Tallow, where Witness Box stands.

"I'm absolutely thrilled and we'll keep going for the time being with her. She'll be covered by Witness Box eventually."
