Osirixamix fall hands Hilly Way to Golden

The 2/7 favourite Golden Silver under Emmet Mullins was a very fortuitous winner of the feature race at Cork this afternoon, the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase as Osirixamix fell at the last when holding a commanding advantage.

The Tony Martin trained Osirixamix had jumped superbly throughout under Robbie Moran and was on his way to a shock 25/1 win until he ploughed through the last and left Golden Silver come home along way clear of the others. Hughies Grey for Mervyn Torrens and Mick Darcy ran on to take second twenty eight lengths behind the winner at the odds of 8/1.

The Willie Mullins trained winner was expected to win today with ease but was struggling to catch Osirixamix and was set for second until the last.

Having won this race in 2009 and again last year when it was run at Fairyhouse Golden Silver was recording his third success in the race and his eleventh career win.

Willie Mullins wasn’t present for the win but Emmet Mullins said afterwards: “He didn’t jump at all for me early on.

“Osirixamix slipped the field down the back and we had to chase him. I think he was tying up in front and it all came down to the jump at the last.”
