Dual point-to-point winner Our Katie gained a third racecourse win when landing the Croom Mares Hurdle at Limerick today for trainer Garry Ahern and jockey Brian Hayes.

The daughter of Dr Massini was held up in the early stages before making good headway to lead at the second last flight, staying on well for a two lengths win over Carigeen Lechuga.

A sizeable gamble on the Charles Byrnes trained Feenakilmeedy went astray as the Davy Russell partnered mare crashed out at the fifth flight.

Following the win, Ahern stated “she is a tough mare and has previously won a point-to-point on that type of (heavy) ground. We'll look at a mares' novice hurdle at Fairyhouse with her next.”
